Melissa Fields

Founder, CEO, and Principal Designer
Known for her ability to transform her clients’ homes into highly personalized, sophisticated spaces that reflect their unique style and the way they truly want to live, Melissa is the visionary force behind Shades of Gray Design Studio. With an eye for detail and a passion for pushing creative boundaries, she delivers designs that are both striking and deeply functional, ensuring her clients feel at home in every sense of the word.
Melissa has a unique ability to get into her clients’ heads, understanding them on a deep level to create spaces that feel effortlessly personal and intuitive. Her eye for quality and longevity ensures every selection she makes is as timeless as it is beautiful. Her approach is rooted in precision, reliability, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
A retired Air Force officer, Melissa brings to every design project the same discipline, resilience, and attention to detail that defined her 20-year military career. Her work has earned widespread recognition, with media features in the likes of HGTV and Southern Living, as well as recurring guest expert appearances on KENS5 Great Day SA.
Catherine Warren
Design + Project Coordinator
Cat Warren is a former U.S. Naval Officer who transitioned into the interior design industry; she brings with her a strong understanding of contracting, finance and logistics shaped by military structure and discipline.
Her career shift marked a return to a lifelong passion — one she recently realized had been present since childhood through her fascination with beautifully designed homes, restaurants and hotels. Driven by her creative calling, Catherine returned to Texas Tech University and graduated with her third bachelor’s degree in interior design. Her design interests include WELL building concepts, ADA and code compliance.
Besides Design, Cat enjoys artistic pursuits, health and fitness, and spending time at home with her mom and her beloved fur babies.
